Biology, Physics and Chemistry of Perfumes. Brief Details

Biology. Everything starts from the perfume molecules. Each type of them vibrates in a certain way and so they affect differently the nose. When applied, the fragrance release similar molecules, that reach the olfactory epithelium by entering into the nasal cavities. Then, sensor cells send a message to the brain, which is interpreted as a kind of flavor. And all these flavors affect the memory and the imagination, causing change in mood, feelings, etc.


Physics. All fragrances are a blend of perfume oils, alcohol and water. This volatile mixture evaporates easily when applied on pulse points, because of the heat which is some kind of catalyst. Moreover, the fragrance smell differently according to the weather temperature and humidity.

Chemistry. Different people has different skin structure and temperament. The volatile perfume mixture is absorbed by the skin, and this is the main reason why perfumes must be applied only on skin. There is some factors, which are also catalysts - for example, oily skin is better for the scent.
